Join The Spiritual Arts Foundation as General Manager to help grow the UK’s leading spiritual arts community. Support creative projects, manage volunteers, and help organise events for our 2,400+ member Spiritual Creatives group.
What difference will you make?
The General Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Spiritual Arts Foundation operates smoothly, efficiently, and creatively. By coordinating volunteers, supporting projects, and helping to translate ideas into practical action, the General Manager will directly contribute to the growth and success of the UK’s first organisation dedicated to exploring spirituality in the arts.
Through this role, the General Manager will help strengthen our volunteer community by keeping teams motivated, organised, and connected. Clear communication and support from the General Manager ensures that all areas of the organisation — fundraising, events, digital projects, and the development of our Spirit Songs record label — work together effectively. This creates a stronger, more resilient organisation capable of taking on larger projects and reaching more artists and audiences.
The General Manager's work will also have a direct impact on our events and community engagement, including managing and scheduling activities for our Spiritual Creatives Meetup group, which has over 2,400 members. By helping to plan, organise, and deliver workshops, performances, and festivals, the General Manager ensures that our creative projects reach their full potential, providing opportunities for artists to share their spiritual work and connect with wider audiences.
Additionally, the General Manager will support fundraising and strategic planning, helping SAF secure resources to sustain and expand our initiatives. Their involvement will enable the Founder and teams to focus on creative and artistic work, knowing that the organisational and operational side is in capable hands.
Ultimately, the General Manager will be helping to bring the Foundation’s vision to life — promoting spirituality in the arts, supporting artists, and creating meaningful experiences for our members and audiences. Their contribution will have a lasting effect on the organisation’s ability to deliver projects, grow our community, and make a tangible difference in the arts landscape.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to see the direct impact of their organisational, management, and communication skills, and who wants to support a growing arts organisation with a meaningful mission. By helping The SAF function efficiently and creatively, the volunteer will ensure that the organisation continues to flourish, inspiring both artists and audiences across the UK and beyond.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a volunteer who is organised, practical, and calm under pressure, with a genuine interest in spirituality and the arts. The ideal person will be comfortable coordinating multiple teams, supporting creative projects, and translating big ideas into clear, actionable plans.
Key qualities include
* Strong communication skills — able to motivate volunteers, liaise with teams, and keep everyone informed.
* Organisational ability — able to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and events simultaneously.
* Logical and practical thinking — capable of turning visionary ideas into executable actions.
* Digital confidence — familiarity with online tools such as WordPress, social media, and online collaboration platforms is useful.
* Team leadership — experience managing or supporting volunteers or small teams is highly desirable.
* Business or strategic experience — knowledge of strategy, marketing, fundraising, or project management is a plus.
* Writing and editing skills — experience with writing, editing, or structuring documents; ability to use tools like ChatGPT is a bonus.
* Relevant experience — at least 3 years’ experience in a related field, such as marketing, management, business administration, or project coordination.
The volunteer should be enthusiastic, reliable, and proactive, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. They should have a cool-headed approach, able to handle challenges calmly and find practical solutions.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact, support creative and spiritual initiatives, and gain experience in management, strategy, and event coordination within a vibrant arts organisation.
What will you be doing?
The Spiritual Arts Foundation (SAF) is seeking a highly motivated and organised General Manager to help coordinate and grow our community of artists, performers, writers, and filmmakers, and support the development of our creative projects. The SAF is the UK’s first arts organisation dedicated to exploring spirituality in the arts, and our volunteer General Manager will play a central role in ensuring our activities run smoothly and effectively.
The volunteer will work closely with the Founder, Clifford White, to help translate ideas into practical action. This will involve taking part in strategic discussions, recording key decisions and plans, and ensuring that these plans are executed effectively by our volunteer teams. You will act as a communications hub, connecting different teams, volunteers, and project leaders, helping to ensure everyone is clear about priorities and deadlines.
Key responsibilities include
* Volunteer Coordination and Support
o Manage and communicate with our existing volunteer teams across areas such as fundraising, marketing, events, and digital projects.
o Recruit and onboard new volunteers as needed, conducting interviews and helping them settle into their roles.
o Maintain motivation, engagement, and clarity among volunteers, ensuring everyone understands their responsibilities and deadlines.
o Facilitate communication through our online forum, group chats, and team meetings, ensuring teams are collaborating efficiently.
* Project and Event Management
o Help organise and schedule events for our Spiritual Creatives Meetup group, which currently has over 2,400 members.
o Help to coordinate workshops, festivals, and other initiatives — both online and in person — liaising with artists, performers, and speakers.
o Support the launch of our Spirit Songs record label, assisting in planning, coordination, and communication with volunteers and external partners.
* Fundraising and Administrative Support
o Work with the Founder to prepare applications and documentation for funding opportunities.
o Ensure fundraising initiatives and deadlines are being met, and coordinate volunteer support where needed.
o Record discussions and create clear, actionable plans, ensuring progress is tracked and delivered efficiently.
* Digital and Online Activities
o Assist with updating and managing online content.
o Support social media management and digital communications to maintain engagement with our community.
o Conduct or coordinate interviews and prepare written content when required.
The General Manager will be a central figure in SAF, helping to connect vision with action and ensuring that volunteers and projects are working effectively towards our mission of promoting spirituality in the arts. You will have the chance to contribute to a growing, creative, and dynamic organisation, supporting artists and initiatives across multiple disciplines, and helping shape the future of the Foundation.
We are looking for someone organised, calm, and practical, with a genuine interest in spirituality, a logical approach to problem-solving, and a willingness to engage with both creative and operational tasks. Experience in management, business, marketing, or strategy is highly desirable, as is confidence working with volunteers and online platforms.
