Overview
Are you passionate about improving patient safety and driving high standards of care? We are seeking an experienced, dynamic and driven Patient Safety Manager to join our team and lead on initiatives that place patient safety at the heart of everything we do. This post is in Colchester but cross site working will be required.
Responsibilities
* Lead on the delivery of the NHS Patient Safety Strategy, the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework and associated national and local frameworks.
* Support and oversee incident investigations, ensuring learning is identified and shared.
* Provide expert advice on patient safety, risk management, and compliance with national guidance and standards.
* Promote a proactive safety culture, encouraging openness, reporting, and learning from experience.
* Develop and deliver training to staff on patient safety practices.
* Strengthen and promote a culture of patient safety, providing a visible presence to front line staff to support the investigation of, and learning arising from incidents to ensure change in practice takes place.
* Identify, develop and deliver training in incident reporting and investigation techniques to include root cause analysis skills, and action planning, to ensure that lessons learned from incidents are robust and ensure that all staff are empowered to take action to minimise risk to patient safety, patient experience and clinical effectiveness.
* Carry an individual portfolio of work, which is discrete, measurable and drives the direction of travel in relation to patient safety, including leading on specific patient safety projects/initiatives as directed by the Chief Nurse, Chief Medical Officer, or the Associate Director of Clinical Governance.
* Work in partnership and collegiately, providing professional support to the divisional governance facilitators to ensure consistent delivery of the patient safety agenda and encourage the development of the devolved clinical governance structure.
* Ensure the provision of a robust incident reporting system and that relevant and regular training programmes are provided to support staff in the reporting of incidents.
