We are working in partnership with a Local Authority in the Manchester area to recruit passionate and committed Family Support Workers to join their Children Services team.

In this vital role, you'll support the work of a team undertaking direct work with children and families to promote and safeguard the welfare of children. You will work with children who are subject to Child Protection, Child in Need, and Looked After Children plans, ensuring that every child receives the right help, at the right time.

You'll:

Contribute to and implement individual care and support plans alongside parents, carers, social workers, and partner agencies.
Provide practical help, advice, and emotional support to families through home visits and community-based work.
Build local knowledge of community and health resources to help families access support and improve outcomes.
Contribute to assessments, reviews, and multi-agency meetings, ensuring high-quality written and verbal input.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records in line with council policies and share information appropriately.
Support contact sessions, ensuring the safe transport and supervision of children when required.
Provide clear, detailed observations and reports, including contributions to court assessments where needed.What we are looking for:

Proven experience working directly with children and families, particularly those subject to Child Protection, Child in Need, or Looked After Children plans, with the ability to build trust and promote positive change.
Strong communication, assessment, and record-keeping skills, able to contribute effectively to multi-agency meetings, prepare clear written reports, and maintain accurate case documentation in line with policy.
Emotional resilience and a child-centred approach, capable of managing challenging situations calmly, having difficult conversations sensitively, and maintaining focus on the best outcomes for children and young people.This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is child-focused, resilient, and motivated to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families.

Contract length: 3-6 months (with expectation of an ongoing extension)

Rate of Pay: £18-£20 per hour (Negotiable DOE)

Hours: Full time, 37 hours each week.
