Key responsibilities
* Our Senior Systems Engineers are technical leaders for their team, becoming subject matter experts in multiple services. They work efficiently with limited guidance, solve complex problems, and drive improvements to services and features.
* Lead team design, scoping, prioritization discussions; understand how technical decisions impact other teams; optimize and automate team processes to meet organizational goals.
* Lead implementation reviews (designs, code, operational readiness, deployment plans, system changes, etc.) and anticipate patterns affecting performance, reliability, or availability to create scalable automation.
* Identify when implementations lack high availability, performance, security, stability, or maintainability; determine short- and long-term mitigations; troubleshoot via Linux expertise and provide data/metrics to manage capacity and efficiency.
* Drive SOPs, documentation, and runbook creation; coach and mentor others; recruit and interview to build team expertise; communicate clearly and collaborate to deliver results.
Basic Qualifications
* Advanced knowledge in Linux system administration
* Significant experience of systems automation using BASH, Python, Perl, etc
* Significant experience of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, HTTP)
* Excellent troubleshooting skills at all levels, from application to network to host
* Experience writing technical documents, project plans and progress reports to leadership and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience of building and operating systems at scale
* Advanced knowledge of configuration management systems, such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or related systems
* Significant experience of monitoring frameworks (CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic or similar)
