Job Introduction
Healthy outcomes start with positive patient experiences.
As a Porter at Sodexo in Wythenshawe, you'll be an essential part of the hospital's daily operations - safely moving patients, vital equipment, and medical supplies throughout the site.With professionalism and a friendly approach, you'll help reduce the stress of hospital visits for patients, staff, and visitors alike.
What you'll do:
* Guide patients, visitors, and staff to the correct hospital locations
* Handle waste collection and recycling while maintaining health and safety standards
* Follow all relevant policies, procedures, and management systems
* Safely transport patients between wards using appropriate equipment and care
* Deliver specimens, samples, and blood products securely across departments
* Support with respectful transfer of deceased patients
* Provide additional porter services such as mail delivery, pharmacy runs, moving furniture, and transporting records or stock
What you bring:
* Physical stamina and ability to walk or stand for extended periods
* Awareness of health and safety practices in a hospital setting
* Calmness under pressure and adaptability to changing tasks
* A strong team ethic with the ability to work independently when needed
* An understanding of confidentiality, emotional resilience, and sensitivity in difficult situations
* Excellent communication and listening skills
* A helpful, patient-focused attitude and commitment to delivering excellent customer care
