In your role as a Kitchen Assistant at HC-One, you'll value one thing above all: kindness. It influences every aspect of our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist care homes. Every team member understands that our Residents are individuals with their own stories. Joining HC-One offers a wonderful opportunity to give back to these individuals.
Please note we have both part-time and full-time hours available.
As a Kitchen Assistant, your responsibilities include helping to prepare and serve nutritious, healthy meals that residents will love. You'll uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene. Whether maintaining food supplies and fridge/freezer temperatures, training new starters on equipment, or cleaning spills, your focus will always be on Resident wellbeing.
We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant with some kitchen experience, but what matters most is that you have either an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or the willingness to pursue one. Good record-keeping and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to follow recipes. When communicating with Residents or colleagues, kindness and consideration are a must.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. You should be able to recognize signs of abuse, harm, or neglect and know the appropriate actions to take. All staff are required to attend safeguarding training relevant to their role and to seek advice and escalate concerns as needed.
We provide comprehensive training, offering a great opportunity to learn new skills. In return, you'll enjoy a wide range of benefits and support for your physical and mental well-being, including:
* Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications
* Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG
* Free uniform
* A nutritious meal during shifts of eight hours or more
* Company pension scheme
* 28 days' annual leave, including bank holidays
* Group life assurance
* Wagestream for flexible access to pay and financial wellbeing
* Learning and development opportunities, including qualifications
* GP online service for 24/7 consultations, available for you and your children under 16
* Support from experienced colleagues in a dedicated team
* Colleague discounts at over 1600 high street stores
* Confidential Employee Assistance Programme for physical, mental, and financial support
* Recognition schemes like 'Kindness in Care' and Long Service Awards
* Refer a Friend scheme offering up to £1000 per successful referral
We are committed to inclusive practices, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds, and ensuring a swift onboarding process from offer to start date.
