Instrument and Control Technician
Location: South Hook LNG Site, Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire
About the site:
Playing a vital role in the country's energy infrastructure, South Hook LNG Terminal is one of the largest Liquefied Natural Gas Terminals in Europe. It can meet around 20% of the UK's daily natural gas needs and is part of the world's first fully integrated supply chain from Qatar to west Wales.
Pay/Salary: PAYE £22.96 per hour
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time – Nine Day Fortnight (Week 1: Mon – Thurs, 8.5 hours; Friday, 7 hours = 41 hours. Week 2: Mon – Thurs, 8.5 hours = 34 hours)
Role Overview:
As an Instrument and Control Technician, you will be responsible for installing, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing various instruments and control systems, ensuring their accuracy and reliability to support safe and efficient operations.
Responsibilities:
* Install, configure, and calibrate instrumentation and control systems, including sensors, transmitters, controllers, and data acquisition devices.
* Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware and software issues in instrumentation and control systems, implementing repairs as needed.
* Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity of equipment.
* Support commissioning and start-up of new equipment or control systems in collaboration with engineering and operations teams.
* Perform regular inspections and tests to verify instrument accuracy and system functionality.
* Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and calibration data.
* Ensure all work complies with safety standards and industry regulations.
* Assist in developing and updating maintenance procedures and best practices.
* Keep abreast of technological advancements, recommending upgrades or improvements.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as an Instrument and Control Technician or similar role, with hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
* Strong knowledge of control systems such as DCS, PLC, and SCADA.
* Ability to interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, and electrical schematics.
* Proficiency with diagnostic tools, calibration equipment, and software applications.
* Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a methodical approach.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Flexibility for occasional on-call or overtime work.
