Global Business Development Manager
Glasgow (hybrid working)
Who is the company?
Our client is an innovation led IP business developing dispensing, delivery and product activation technologies for global FMCG, household, beverage, pharmaceutical and personal care markets.
Their platforms go beyond traditional packaging. They enable entirely new product formats, unlock differentiated consumer experiences, reduce material usage and support emerging regulatory frameworks around recyclability, reusability and plastic reduction.
Their technologies have previously been licensed and developed with major international blue-chip brands. With growing global focus on sustainability and smarter product delivery systems, their portfolio is well positioned to support the next wave of category innovation.
They partner with world leading brands through long term licensing agreements that generate recurring royalty revenues across high value product categories. With new applications emerging and interest growing internationally, the business is now entering a phase where the right strategic partnerships can unlock serious global scale.
What is the role?
This is a senior, hands-on commercial role at a pivotal and exciting moment for the business. Our client is now well positioned to approach the market with its full portfolio of patented technologies and expand into new sectors and territories.
As Global Business Development Manager, you will take ownership of identifying, negotiating and securing licensing agreements with major FMCG and other partners. This is not a volume sales environment. It is high value, high impact commercial work involving complex negotiations, long timelines and senior stakeholder engagement.
You will map new market opportunities, build commercial pathways for their patented technology platforms and lead the conversations that influence how global brands adopt the next generation of packaging solutions. The role offers genuine autonomy, meaningful responsibility and the chance to shape the direction of a fast-moving, IP led business.
Key responsibilities
• Lead commercial negotiations including royalty structures, minimum guarantees, scope, exclusivity and long term framework terms
• Lead the full business development cycle for licensing partnerships across FMCG, household, beverage, pharmaceutical and personal care sectors
• Identify and prioritise global market opportunities where the company's technologies can deliver measurable value
• Map complex ecosystems of brand owners, manufacturers and supply chain partners
• Originate, negotiate and secure long term licensing agreements, managing commercial terms, scope and stakeholder alignment
• Build, manage and convert a high value pipeline with direct accountability for originating and delivering new licensing revenue
• Develop compelling commercial proposals in collaboration with technical and product teams
• Engage confidently with senior stakeholders including C suite, innovation leads, procurement heads and manufacturing partners
• Represent the business at industry events, customer meetings and technology demonstrations
• Maintain accurate CRM data and provide clear pipeline reporting
What we are looking for
• A strong background in strategic business development
• Experience working with major FMCG or consumer goods brands, or suppliers within those ecosystems
• Success in managing long, consultative deal cycles with multiple stakeholders
• Strategic thinking combined with hands on execution, able to build commercial structure where none yet exists
• Strong negotiation skills, commercial sharpness and the presence to influence senior decision makers
• A self-starter comfortable operating in a fast paced, close knit environment without the processes of a large corporate
• Collaborative, adaptable and relationship led, with the maturity to work across technical and commercial disciplines
• Experience involving IP licensing, technology transfer, packaging innovation or complex solutions (desirable)
• Willingness to travel in the UK and internationally
Why join our client?
• Join an IP driven business with patented technologies already attracting global attention
• Work at the intersection of innovation, commercial strategy and licensing
• Shape how major international brands adopt next generation packaging solutions
• Operate with real autonomy and make an immediate, visible impact
• Be part of a friendly, ambitious and highly collaborative team
