Test Cell Engineer
Location: Barton under Needwood
Pay Rate: £17.00 per hour (PAYE), increasing to £18.79 per hour (PAYE) after 12 weeks
Job Overview
We are currently recruiting a Test Cell Engineer to support the testing and validation of rail-based power products, including diesel engines, transmissions, powerpacks, and cooler groups. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong mechanical and electrical background and an interest in rail engineering.
You will work within a production testing environment, using computer-controlled test cells to ensure products meet all required specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Installation, setup, and testing of production power products within test cells, following detailed work instructions
Ensure all products fully meet defined testing requirements
Accurately record test data to ensure full traceability
Assist with developing testing requirements for future products
Diagnose and report mechanical and electrical faults
Collect failure data and provide structured feedback to engineering
Skills & Experience
Previous experience in testing, production, or a similar engineering discipline
Good working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
Intermediate to advanced computer skills (test cells are computer controlled)
Ability to diagnose faults in engines and control systems
Engineering qualification or equivalent experience is desirable, but not essential
Product-specific training will be provided through mentoring
