Job Description
Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead major workstreams and multi‑disciplinary packages across complex electrical and energy infrastructure programmes. You will take responsibility for full lifecycle delivery, strategic contract leadership, and cross‑disciplinary coordination, ensuring safe, cost‑effective, and technically robust outcomes for our clients.
This role requires a confident leader with proven experience managing large‑scale infrastructure, deep understanding of NEC contracts, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across engineering, commercial, and delivery functions. Candidates will be required to be present in our client office in Glasgow or Perth for 2/3 days per week.
Job Objectives
Senior Project Managers deliver high‑value, complex project elements with significant autonomy. You will operate across the full lifecycle—design, procurement, construction, commissioning—ensuring alignment with client objectives, governance requirements, and industry standards.
As the Senior Project Manager you will be responsible for:
Lead full lifecycle delivery of major workstreams or multi‑disciplinary packages, from early design through construction, commissioning, and handover.
Manage NEC contracts (Options A, C, and E) at a strategic level, including contract administration, early warnings, compensation events, programme management, and change control.
Oversee multiple contractors, consultants, and design partners, ensuring coordinated delivery across OHL, substations, underground cable, civil, and electrical engineering interfaces.
Provide technical leadership across electrical infrastructure topics, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, engineering assurance processes, and system‑level integration.
Drive strategic programme performance, managing cost, schedule, risk, and quality across complex portfolios or packages.
Lead senior stakeholder engagement, influencing decision‑making across engineering, commercial, consenting, environmental, and client governance boards.
Prepare high‑level reports and performance dashboards, providing clear updates to client leadership and internal stakeholders.
Mentor junior PMs and support team development, contributing to capability growth within the project management function.
Qualifications
Degree‑qualified in a relevant engineering, project management, or construction discipline.
Working toward a professional qualification (APM, ICE, IET, MCIOB, etc.).
Able to manage multiple workstreams independently in a structured, safety‑critical environment.
Comfortable interpreting schedules, cost data, and risk outputs produced by planning and project controls teams.
Eligible to obtain BPSS security clearance.
Proven experience delivering complex projects in the electrical infrastructure, utilities, or broader energy sector.
Strong track record delivering OHL, substations, underground cable, grid connections, or major electrical engineering projects.
Confident leading multi‑stakeholder programmes involving contractors, engineering partners, regulators, and client organisations.
