JOB TITLE: Stores Person
RESPONSIBLE TO: Branch Manager
HOURS: Full time Mon–Fri 08:00 – 17: hour week)
SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:
To effectively manage the stores area of the branch. You will check, sign and unload supplier deliveries, carry out stock takes, order stock and prepare goods for collection and delivery in line with company procedures.
You will arrange products in readiness for installations and serve trade and domestic customers, processing orders across a wide range of items.
Full training will be provided to enable you to cut and prepare glass, carry out basic glazing tasks and safely operate a gantry crane.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESTier 2 Competencies
* Check, sign for and store supplier deliveries, ensuring goods match order confirmations at all times.
* Check and prepare products scheduled for installation or fabrication.
* Assist with loading installation vans to minimise non-productive time.
* Carry out accurate monthly stock takes.
* Monitor stock levels and place replenishment orders as required.
* Process orders of goods in line with company procedures.
* Cut to size and prepare bespoke glass and plastic panel orders for collection or delivery (training provided).
* Maintain and arrange products to maximise efficiency and use of space.
* Promote the company positively with a friendly, customer-focused attitude.
* Follow safe working practices when operating a forklift truck (where trained).
* Maintain health and safety compliance within the stores area.
* Ensure excellent standards of housekeeping and waste management.
* Handle, stack, load and move products with care and attention to detail.
* Learn glass cutting, basic glazing and gantry crane operation through company training.
* Carry out deliveries as and when required.
Tier 3 Competencies
* Monitor, record and track stock levels, adjusting quantities according to demand.
* Communicate directly with suppliers to resolve incorrect or missing items.
* Place stock orders with suppliers following company processes.
* Cut and prepare glass, undertake glazing and minor product repairs to a high standard.
KEY SKILLS
* Basic reading and writing skills.
* Strong housekeeping mindset with the drive to maintain a clean, tidy and organised workspace.
* Willingness to learn glass cutting, basic glazing and gantry crane use.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Able to multi-task and prioritise during busy periods.
* Good organisational skills and time keeping.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENT
* Full UK Driving Licence.
DESIRABLE / IDEAL
* Forklift truck experience or certification.
