Senior Radiographer - Mammographer

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and qualified Mammographer to join our multi‑disciplinary team at James Paget Breast Unit. The service delivers both breast screening and symptomatic mammography using fully digital tomosynthesis systems in two dedicated rooms and a mobile breast screening unit that operates throughout the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area.
As a Mammographer you will be part of a dedicated team providing a high‑quality, patient‑centred mammography service. The unit is committed to personal and professional development and supports CPD and role extension.
Main duties of the job
* Undertake 4‑view mammography for screening and symptomatic services, producing mammograms of optimum quality while maintaining a quality experience for the patient and meeting time constraints.
* Supervise and participate in the practical training of student mammographers and other medical staff as required within the trust.
* Participate in a flexible working pattern, including evening and weekend lists if required.
* Check relevant clinical history, explain the procedure, obtain consent, and provide timely information and advice to patients.
* Provide relevant clinical information and support to women, especially during assessment and diagnostic sessions.
* Apply NHSBSP guidelines and quality standards fully, contributing to and adhering to national and local protocols.
* Communicate in an understanding, sympathetic and professional manner with all clients, patients, staff and the general public.
* Understand and observe the Trust’s Health and Safety Policies and procedures.
* Adhere to the Trust’s Values and behaviours.
* Participate in the Quality Assurance Programme, carrying out daily, weekly and monthly testing of all equipment to ensure optimum conditions before clinical work.
Qualifications
* HCPC Registration.
* Certificate of Competence in mammography or a postgraduate award in mammography practice.
* Good command of the English language with a good standard of literacy and numeracy.
* Evidence of recent relevant CPD.
Knowledge and Experience
* Knowledge of Breast Screening Programme.
* Understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
* Mammography experience.
* Understanding of principles of quality assurance.
Skills
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Ability to work well as part of a team.
* Demonstrated ability to be tactful and diplomatic.
