Would you like to work for a charity that cares for hundreds of historic sites across England? We are seeking a Visitor Assistant to join us at Dover Castle, working 8 - 20 hours weekly during peak school holidays.
No prior history background? No problem. We value a passion for people and excellent customer service. You will enjoy working as part of a team and understand what makes for an engaging visitor experience for a diverse audience.
Heritage is for everybody. It connects us to the past and to each other, enriching communities and shaping society. We care for over a million objects and hundreds of historic sites across England, opening them up to share stories and foster enjoyment, learning, and creativity.
As a Dover Castle Visitor Assistant, you will ensure visitors have a memorable experience from arrival to departure. Your recommendations can personalize their visit, such as highlighting benefits of English Heritage membership or suggesting on-site activities. You will also help maintain accessibility, safety, and site presentation.
This role is varied; some days are busy, others quieter, especially on wetter days. Previous paid or voluntary experience with the public is beneficial, but full training and support are provided. You will need to work weekends and Bank Holidays; more details will be shared at the interview.

* Enhanced maternity/paternity/shared parental leave
* 25 days' holiday plus Bank Holidays, pro-rata, increasing to 28 days after 3 years
* Options to purchase additional leave
* Matched pension contributions up to 10%
