Description Are you looking for a high-profile role that offers excellent career development prospects and regular exposure to senior colleagues across government? This post sits in the Onshore Electricity Policy Unit (OEPU) which is part of the Onshore Electricity Strategy and Consents Division. The division is responsible for the Scottish Government’s approach to onshore renewables and works across a broad range of high profile policy areas including onshore wind, battery storage, networks and energy markets as well as community energy and community benefit. This role will afford you the opportunities to make lasting connections across government, and influence policy beyond energy and climate change. Responsibilities Supporting delivery of discrete areas of strategy, reform, policy development and programme management in relation to electricity networks. Working with analytical colleagues and others to undertake critical analysis/develop robust evidence to support Ministerial decisions and to inform representations to the UK Government. Developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships across Governments, industry, statutory bodies to inform policy approaches. Maintaining core briefs where needed, monitoring and updating for key policy developments. Providing official support and leading on Ministerial briefings, PQs, FMQs, MiCases, FOIs and EIRs. Supporting the wider functions of the Onshore Electricity Policy Unit and OESC Division. Qualifications Success Profile Success profiles are specific to each job and they include the mix of skills, experience and behaviours candidates will be assessed on. Technical / Professional Skills: Policy Context and Purpose - Level 2 Practitioner Interrogate and explore underlying issues addressed by the policy, using systems thinking to model policy problems. Working with Ministers - Level 2 Practitioner Deliver effective internal communication. Write for different audiences and purposes, including scrutiny. Work effectively with Ministers. Understand the options for providing policy advice, and how to challenge. Working pattern Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role.
