If you want to be part of a high-performing team transforming how procurement delivers lasting value across Policing, this role is for you. The OPCC for Wiltshire Police are looking for a detail-driven procurement professional to join its Finance and Procurement team as Procurement Governance and Assurance Lead, a pivotal role at the heart of how the organisation buys, plans and delivers value.
What you’ll be doing
Data is at the centre of everything in this role. You'll build and maintain robust cost models, whole-life costing analyses and benchmarking tools in Excel and turn raw spend data into clear, actionable commercial insight. You'll produce management dashboards and KPI reports that give senior leaders real visibility of procurement performance, risks and opportunities.
The successful candidate will lead the collation and analysis of historical spend data to inform procurement planning, identify consolidation opportunities and support evidence-based decision-making. From sensitivity analysis to supplier evaluation scoring, your numerical rigour will ensure that every commercial recommendation is objective, auditable and defensible.
Alongside the analytical work, you'll own statutory reporting obligations under the Procurement Act 2023 and ensure all procurement activity across the organisation is compliant, transparent and governance-ready.
What we’re looking for
A procurement professional who finds satisfaction in a perfectly structured spreadsheet and a complex dataset. Strong Excel skills are essential, you'll be building and interrogating complex financial models on a daily basis. You'll also bring experience in procurement governance or assurance in a regulated or public sector environment, a highly methodical approach to problem-solving and excellent attention to detail.
CIPS qualification, or working towards a qualification, is desirable.
You’ll have the platform, sponsorship and visibility to deliver lasting improvement to an integral organisation, plus a competitive salary, flexible working, generous annual leave (25 days rising to 30), Local Government Pension Scheme, continuous learning (including dedicated L&D time), Blue Light Card access and other benefits. We’re a Disability Confident Leader and committed to inclusive recruitment; reasonable adjustments are available.
