Teaching Assistant (TA)
Primary School – Port Talbot
Start Date: ASAP / To be confirmed
Contract: Full-time / Part-time (to be discussed)
Salary: In line with local authority pay scales
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming primary school in Port Talbot. The role will involve working closely with pupils across the school, supporting learning, behaviour, and wellbeing.
Our school has a high proportion of male pupils, some of whom benefit greatly from positive male role models and structured, active engagement. For this reason, applications from male candidates are particularly encouraged, although we welcome applications from all suitably qualified individuals.
The Role:
* Supporting pupils in the classroom and during outdoor activities
* Working with individuals or small groups, including pupils with behavioural needs
* Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
* Providing consistent, calm, and positive behaviour support
* Supporting pupils during playtimes and physical activities
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Have experience working with children (school or youth settings desirable)
* Be confident, patient, and consistent in managing behaviour
* Enjoy being active and engaging pupils through sport or physical activity
* Be able to build strong, respectful relationships with pupils
* Be a positive role model who promotes teamwork, resilience, and respect
Desirable (but not essential):
* Experience supporting children with behavioural or emotional needs
* A sporting background or interest in physical activity
* Relevant TA qualification or willingness to work towards one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
