Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Clinical Fellow (middle grade) to join the General Paediatrics team at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. These posts are initially for 12 months with potential for extension. These posts do not involve cover for the tertiary Neonatal unit within the Trust.
Main duties of the job
Summary of clinical duties:
* Attending to and managing acute Paediatric cases referred to Paediatric Assessment Unit.
* Managing Paediatric emergencies in the Emergency Department.
* Managing Paediatric cases on the wards.
* Supervising junior doctors, reviewing their patients, and advising on management.
* Conducting ward rounds, usually with a consultant, sometimes independently.
* Providing advanced resuscitation for Paediatric cases, coordinating with consultants, anaesthetists, ED doctors, and NWTS team.
* Second on-call duties out of hours for Paediatric emergencies.
* Assisting in communication with parents.
* Handling child protection issues under supervision.
* Conducting outpatient clinics with the consultant Paediatrician.
* Covering for short-term colleague sickness.

Training
* Completed four years of postgraduate training since registration, including part-time or flexible training.
* At least 2 years of Paediatrics training in the UK.
* Six months at second on-call level in Paediatrics.
