The Role: SEN Learning Support Assistant
Location: Maidenhead
Pay: £101.40 per day
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–3:45pm (term time only)
Start Date: January 2026
Interviews & Trial Days: Early January 2026
This specialist provision supports pupils with Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Global Developmental Delay (GDD). Many pupils are non-verbal, making this role ideal for graduates interested in communication beyond speech.

What You’ll Gain Experience In:
1. Supporting sensory regulation and sensory care
2. Providing personal care (toileting and hygiene routines)
3. Facilitating communication through play, art, music, visuals, and sensory tools
4. Assisting with therapeutic activities informed by Occupational Therapy (OT), Speech & Language Therapy (SALT), and Clinical Psychology
5. Developing insight into behaviour, emotional regulation, and individual sensory profiles
This is an excellent stepping stone for graduates planning postgraduate training in psychology or therapy-related fields.
Understanding Global Developmental Delay (GDD)
GDD involves significant delays across two or more developmental areas, such as communication, cognition, movement, or emotional regulation.
In this role, you’ll learn how to tailor support to each child’s unique profile, helping them make meaningful progress within a safe and nurturing environment.
