Birmingham (West Midlands)
WORCESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
Social care
Posted: 23 September
Offer description

Overview

£44,631 - £47,552 plus a Market Forces Supplement of £8,000. This post is a great opportunity to join an exciting and innovative legal team as a solicitor or barrister who wishes to develop their legal career and expertise. We are a busy, friendly, well supported legal team serving Worcestershire County in Worcester. We provide a high quality and well-regarded service to our users and now need to recruit two Adult Social Care and Education Solicitors or Barristers.

We are looking for Solicitors or Barristers with experience of adult social care law, which will be the main focus of the role; however, experience or a willingness to develop expertise in education law including SEN would be an advantage. We will consider people new to these areas of work, particularly with litigation experience as this can be transferrable. You will be responsible for advising on all aspects of adult social services law, including representing the Council in the Court of Protection and County Court. A flair for advocacy is therefore desirable.

Closing date: 12 October 2025. Proposed interview: w/c 20 October 2025. For further information or to apply, please click on the Enquire/Apply button below. For enquiries, contact Hitchman Principal Solicitor on 01905 846486.

Responsibilities

* Advise on all aspects of adult social services law.
* Represent the Council in, among others, the Court of Protection and the County Court.
* Utilise litigation experience to support the team and develop expertise in related areas as appropriate.

Qualifications

* Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with relevant experience in local government and adult social care law; education law including SEN is an advantage.
* Open to newly qualified or soon-to-be-qualified solicitors or barristers.
* A flair for advocacy is desirable.

Work pattern and benefits

Join a very experienced team supported by an experienced Principal Solicitor and assistant staff to enable you to perform at your best. The role offers professional development and a positive work-life balance with a hybrid pattern: 1 day in the office with full wrap-around technological support. We offer a generous benefits package including flexi-time, options for flexible working (e.g., a nine-day fortnight), a career-average pension, and an edge-of-city location close to the M5.

How to apply

To discuss the position in more detail, please contact Catherine. Closing date is 12 October 2025; proposed interview week is 20 October 2025. For further information or to apply, please click on the Enquire/Apply button below.
