Description The Service & Team: The Development Management service provides the planning applications, validation appeals and enforcement teams (development management), along with technical and systems support and countryside access teams. The work of the service fulfils the statutory decision-making functions of the Local Planning Authority and wider statutory functions relating to the built environment as well as protecting the rights of the public to access the countryside. The service is responsible for delivering the ambitions of the spatial plan for Cornwall through facilitating all new development. The Role: We are looking for an enthusiastic, and committed candidate to fill the post of a Technical Officer within a friendly and supportive County Wide Enforcement team of Development Officers responsible for dealing with Planning Enforcement cases within the Duchy. You will be joining a very experienced team with the additional benefit of a varied workload and a mix of home and office working. This exciting and diverse role involves supporting the Councils Planning Enforcement Team, often being the first point of contact, dealing confidently with enquiries from members of the public and stakeholders whilst also managing expectations in line with planning policy and legislative provisions. We pride ourselves in our trusted working relationships with our Members and Local Councils and therefore excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential. Amongst other duties you will be required to register and set up planning enforcement cases, help manage the Planning Enforcement Inbox whilst dealing with other administrative duties in support of the wider Planning Enforcement Team. Whilst rewarding in it's own right, this post also offers the perfect opportunity to gain valuable experience in both Planning and Planning Enforcement which will ultimately result in a variety of career progression opportunities for the right candidates.
