Purpose of Role
We are recruiting for a Mobile Building Fabric Engineer to support our Avanti West Coast contract in Birmingham.
Job Description
You will provide planned, preventative, and responsive maintenance across various train stations, rail-related offices, and platform buildings. This role requires a multiskilled approach, combining core building fabric expertise with wider maintenance capabilities.
Responsibilities
* Carry out general building fabric maintenance, including carpentry, joinery, tiling, painting, plastering, and basic plumbing repairs.
* Undertake minor repairs to doors, locks, hinges, flooring, ceilings, and other building components.
* Support planned preventative maintenance schedules to ensure all facilities remain safe, secure, and well presented.
* Respond to reactive maintenance requests and resolve issues quickly to minimise disruption.
* Carry out basic mechanical or electrical checks (training provided if required).
* Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and site requirements.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and compliance checks.
* Drive and operate a company vehicle responsibly while travelling between sites.
Essential Qualifications/Skills
* Proven commercial building fabric/maintenance experience.
* Strong skills in carpentry, joinery, and general repair work.
* Experience in wider building maintenance (multi-skilled preferred).
* Ability to carry out basic plumbing, tiling, painting, and decorating tasks.
* Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to undergo the process).
* Full UK Driver’s License (no more than 6 points, no drink-driving offences).
