The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer to join a Building Services Design team in Manchester, working on technically challenging projects across healthcare, industrial, and data centre sectors.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your engineering career within a supportive design environment, gaining hands-on experience across all stages of project delivery while working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
Assisting in the design of mechanical building services systems including HVAC, public health, and specialist ventilation systems
Supporting the production of calculations (heat loss/gain, pipe sizing, duct sizing, ventilation rates, etc.)
Preparing technical drawings and coordinated layouts using AutoCAD and/or Revit
Supporting the development of specifications, schedules, and technical reports
Attending design meetings and liaising with architects, structural engineers, and contractors
Assisting with site visits, surveys, and inspections
Ensuring designs comply with current regulations and standards including UK Building Regulations and healthcare guidance
Contributing to sustainable and energy-efficient design solutionsRequirements
Degree (BEng or MEng) in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
Strong academic background with a genuine interest in building services design
Basic understanding of HVAC systems and building physics principles
Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit (advantageous but not essential)
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Desire to work towards Chartered Engineer status (CEng)What's on Offer
