Supported Employment Job Coach - Fixed Term until 30/06/2026
Location: Waverley Court
Salary: £33,287 - £39,129
Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks
We are seeking a fixed-term, full-time Supported Employment Job Coach to support young people with disabilities into education, training, or employment. You will be part of the Business Growth and Inclusion team, responsible for managing employability delivery across the city. This includes supporting those at risk of leaving school without a positive destination, and providing employability support to individuals with barriers such as disabilities or long-term health conditions, as well as managing contracts and grants to third sector organizations for specialist employability services.
The Job Coach will deliver our Edinburgh Project SEARCH programme, including recruiting and supporting young people with disabilities or long-term health conditions, facilitating their participation in supported training and work placements, and helping them acquire skills and qualifications for future employment.
You will also develop work placements within council departments and with other public, private, and third sector organizations, aiming to progress young people into paid employment.
The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, experience supporting individuals with disabilities or health conditions, an understanding of the challenges faced by young people with barriers to employment, and awareness of the current economic climate affecting the city.
We are committed to fostering a workplace where all employees feel valued, included, and empowered to perform their best. We recognize the benefits of a diverse workforce with varied values, beliefs, experiences, and backgrounds.
This role involves regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The successful candidate will be required to join or update their PVG Scheme membership. Additionally, candidates who have spent more than three months outside the UK in the last five years will need to provide an Overseas Criminal Record Check. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of these checks.
We are also evolving our recruitment process from competency-based interviews to a behavioral and technical skills approach, to better assess how candidates embody our core behaviors: Respect, Integrity, and Flexibility. More information can be found at Our Behaviours - The City of Edinburgh Council.
Our salary range typically starts at the initial salary and increases annually until the top of the range is reached. We welcome discussions about flexible working arrangements.
