VIQU have partnered with a leading UK engineering and system integration specialist delivering complex automation and control solutions across critical infrastructure sectors including energy, utilities, renewables and manufacturing. Known for working on highly regulated and technically demanding environments, the organisation is continuing to expand its engineering team to support major infrastructure projects across the UK.
They are looking for a Commissioning Engineer to join their Energy division, supporting the testing and commissioning of electrical automation and control systems across client sites. This role will involve a mix of work from the Stone head office and customer locations across the UK, supporting projects from system modification through to full system deployment.
This position would suit an existing Commissioning Engineer or a Test Engineer looking to move into a more site-focused commissioning role, working with complex control and electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out site acceptance testing (SAT) and commissioning activities in line with project documentation.
* Support factory acceptance testing (FAT) activities where required.
* Provide technical supervision of installation works on client sites.
* Ensure installation, testing and commissioning work follows agreed technical procedures and standards.
* Produce and maintain commissioning documentation and project commissioning files.
* Mark up and manage drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams during commissioning activities.
* Deploy and verify configuration files to SCADA systems, PLCs, RTUs, BCUs, IEDs and network devices.
* Support the preparation of site equipment and commissioning materials.
* Carry out fault finding on electrical and control systems and ensure issues are documented and resolved.
* Manage LOTO procedures and electrical isolations in line with safe working practices.
Experience & Skills
* Background in Electrical Engineering, Automation or Control Systems.
* Experience with test and commissioning methodologies.
* Strong fault finding skills on electrical or electronic systems.
* Experience working with SCADA systems, PLCs, RTUs or industrial control systems.
* Understanding of industrial communication networks (Ethernet, fibre, serial protocols).
* Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and GA drawings.
* Knowledge of electrical safety and LOTO procedures.
* Experience producing commissioning documentation or test plans.
* BS7671 18th Edition and C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing are advantageous.
* Experience with National Grid substations or secondary systems is beneficial.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to UK client sites.
