Job Title: Deputy Manager (Residential Care and Education)

Are you passionate about working with children and young people in a residential care setting? We are providing an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to join a children’s home in South East England as a Deputy Manager on a full-time, permanent basis. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable young people aged 8–18, supporting their development and safeguarding their well-being.
About the Service
This organisation operates children’s homes aimed at children and young people at risk of exploitation. The focus is on creating a safe, nurturing environment that promotes confidence, independence, and essential life skills. The Deputy Manager will support the leadership team in maintaining high standards of care, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations, and fostering an inclusive, safe environment. The role may involve supporting multiple homes within the locality, requiring flexibility and a strong commitment to safeguarding.
Key Responsibilities
* Building trusting relationships to support resilience and independence among young people.
* Supervising staff shifts and ensuring high-quality care delivery.
* Supporting the Registered Manager with audits and operational duties.
* Assisting with daily activities such as meal preparation, cleaning, and maintaining accurate records.
* Upholding safeguarding policies and promoting a safe, inclusive environment.
* Contributing to the overall running of the residential home following Ofsted standards and promoting organisational values.
What We’re Looking For
* A Level 3 qualification relevant to Residential Childcare.
* A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care and Children & Young People's Services or a willingness to work towards it.
* At least 2 years’ experience in a children’s residential setting, with a minimum of 1 year in a supervisory role.
* Strong knowledge of OFSTED regulations and quality standards supporting a home to achieve “Outstanding” status.
* Experience in safeguarding, recording, and reporting to protect children and young people.
* A commitment to creating safe, supportive environments for young people and supporting organisational values.
Additional Information
This role may involve flexible support of other homes in the area, with an emphasis on safeguarding and organisational standards. A current knowledge of best practices in residential care and an understanding of safeguarding legislation are essential.
