Job Description
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented UX Designer to join our dynamic design team. As a UX Designer, you will be responsible for creating seamless, user-friendly, and aesthetically pleasing digital experiences. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to transform user needs into intuitive interfaces, enhancing the overall user experience.
IFS is a highly collaborative organization. You’ll form strong relationships with product managers and designers and can expect to partner regularly with engineers and leaders beyond your immediate team. We’re after a skilled designer with hands-on user experience understanding, genuine empathy for our end users and a passion for developing products with accessibility and usability at its core.
As a UX Designer you will
1. Contribute to overall strategy, ideas and decision-making about product
direction
2. Help deliver and refine clear storytelling around product needs and opportunities
3. Work cross-functionally with product management, engineering, design, and research peers
4. Build strong personal connections with your teammates and help shape IFS’s culture
5. Create, collaborate, and iterate on flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals
6. Design and ship high-quality product improvements
Qualifications
We’d love to hear from you if you have:
7. 5+ years of experience crafting user experiences across content, design, or engineering disciplines
8. Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, methodologies and the ability to incorporate user feedback into design iterations
9. An eye for high-quality, well-crafted visual and interaction design, with a passion for detail
10. An understanding of design systems and design documentation
11. Experience working independently, exploring concepts from beginning to end
12. Proven ability to design simple solutions to solve complex user problems
13. Experience managing complex projects with cross-functional teams and overlapping organizational lines
14. Proficiency in wireframing and prototyping to communicate nuanced design decisions
15. Solid understanding of core design principles — information hierarchy, layout, spacing, typography, colour, accessibility and usability
16. Hands-on expertise with Figma and other common design tools, with the ability to mentor and guide design teams
17. Ability to create user flows and wireframes for new features
18. Ability to implement user feedback into designs and product features
19. Advocate for design thinking within the product team and the broader organisation
20. Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders
While it’s not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
21. Knowledge about using Jira and agile scrum processes
22. Experience mentoring junior or early career designers
23. Good understanding of front-end development and collaborating with engineering
24. Experience designing for multiple screens/devices (responsive design) and ensuring cross-browser compatibility
25. Skilled in performing user testing (usability tests, A/B tests, analytics) and applying insights to design iterations
