Role: Pipefitters for AWE Burghfield (Reading) – Duration 3 months
Compensation and benefits: 10 Day rotation (Tuesday to Thursday); 11.5 hours Monday to Thursday, 10 hours Friday, Saturday, Sunday; Attendance bonus; Rail and Travel Time; Lodge allowance
Responsibilities
* Position and install pipe work with sound knowledge, understanding and application of techniques and equipment.
* Manufacture of small and large bore pressure pipe work and installation of pressure pipe work; assist in design and specification relating to the piping system and piping layout including material selection, pipe stress analysis, piping material line classes, standard and speciality piping components, pressure and piping support systems.
* Support the piping design and construction standards and codes of practice; work under general supervision performing conventional installation tasks, identify defects, and devise solutions.
* Maintain regular communication to ensure installation work is checked and approved at each stage, addressing conflicting design specifications, unsuitable materials or coordination requirements.
* Improve expertise across piping systems, design and construction standards; provide technical guidance to less experienced designers and engineers.
* Determine technical requirements to achieve objectives together with resource requirements.
* Pipework fabrication and shaping components by material removal using hand tools and appropriate methods, techniques and tools.
* Assemble pipework components to meet specifications, secure and check parts using suitable methods, connectors and securing devices.
* Shape pipework by manual processes, ensuring shaping operations meet specifications.
* Prepare the work area, materials and equipment for engineering activities with required safety procedures in place.
* Position and install pipework ensuring all connections to equipment are completed to specification.
* Mark pipework installations in appropriate sequence, identify defects and variations, and take appropriate action.
* Restore the work area after installation; segregate and store equipment and materials for reuse and dispose waste items as required; ensure a safe condition.
* Test the performance and condition of installed pipework using approved procedures within agreed timescales; record, review results and take appropriate action.
* Ensure adherence to health and safety policy and procedures at all times.
* Ability to guide Trainee Pipefitters if requested.
Qualifications
* NVQ Pipe Fitting Level 3, trade apprenticeship
* CSCS Card required
* Must be able to obtain or hold current Security Clearance
