Role Responsibilities
The Senior Data Engineer will support the Product Data Domain teams by building ETL pipelines to ingest and transform data, powering key use cases across the BBC. You will work in an agile, multidisciplinary team, ensuring maximum value delivery.
Responsibilities include:
* Developing scalable data pipelines for large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
* Enhancing data quality, governance, and security in line with BBC guidelines.
* Breaking down stakeholder requirements into actionable tasks.
* Creating innovative solutions for data acquisition and enrichment.
* Guiding project design, development, testing, and automation workflows.
* Designing database schemas, indexing, and partitioning strategies.
* Participating in business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
* Evaluating new technologies and upgrades based on market knowledge.
Candidate Requirements
Technical Skills:
* 3+ years experience in data or analytics engineering, preferably in digital products.
* Strong knowledge of Data Warehouse technologies.
* Experience with cloud platforms like AWS and GCP.
* Proficiency in SQL and Python.
* Experience deploying and scheduling data codebases.
* Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Analysts.
