Key Responsibilities
Supervise whole classes during the absence of the class teacher
Deliver pre-set lesson plans and learning materials provided by teaching staff
Maintain good order and discipline in the classroom, following the school's behaviour policy
Ensure pupils are engaged in learning activities and complete assigned work
Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil progress, behaviour, and any issues arising
Support pupils with their learning where appropriate, without teaching new content
Manage classroom resources and ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment
Respond appropriately to emergencies or safeguarding concerns, following school procedures
Uphold the ethos, values, and standards of the school at all times
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
Experience working with children or young people (e.g. schools, youth work, coaching, childcare)
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Ability to engage and motivate pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and/or KS2 where required)
Confidence supervising classes independently
Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately
A professional, calm, and adaptable approach
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
