Job Spec Mosaic is looking to add a third After-the-Event (ATE) Insurance underwriter to its fast-growing London based Litigation Liability team. This is a rare opportunity, for an experienced litigation lawyer seeking a new challenge, to work closely alongside our existing ATE underwriting experts, applying knowledge and skills developed in private practice to take a meaningful role in building our global ATE insurance portfolio. Responsibilities Analyse ATE insurance proposals (typically including Counsel’s opinions, statements of case, expert reports and inter partes correspondence) and liaise with the proposer’s broker (and, where appropriate, legal team and experts), to form an assessment of the underlying risk and insurability; Present findings and conclusions to lead ATE underwriter; Determine appropriate insurance terms and premium; Tailor ATE insurance policies; Monitor the progress of bound policies; Keep detailed and accurate records of policies underwritten and decisions made; Establish, grow and manage relationships with ATE production and distribution sources and other key stakeholders. Skills and Experience Practicing litigation lawyer with minimum 5 years post-qualification experience (some insurance experience is preferred); Experience managing own caseload and determining strategy; Ability to review, analyse and assess the merits of litigation; Confidence in decision making and ability to take a commercial view; Competency in legal drafting; Experience reviewing insurance policies; Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaboratively work with others; Strong written and oral communication skills; Highly focused, enthusiastic and creative thinker; Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; Ability to negotiate with sophisticated advisors and clients.
