Job Title: CNC Programmer – Double Days
Location: Shropshire
Salary: £35,000 – £38,000 per annum + 13.5% shift allowance for double days (6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive CNC Setter Programmer with extensive experience in programming and machining aluminium diecast components on high-speed 5-axis machines. Reporting to the CNC Senior Setter and supporting the Production Supervisor, this role requires initiative, technical expertise, and collaboration with Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams.
The CNC Tech Programmer will be responsible for programming and proving new CNC programs, commissioning fixtures and cutting tools, monitoring part quality, training setter/operators, performing troubleshooting, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

All machines are equipped with Siemens 840D control and hydraulic fixturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Support production on a daily basis to ensure smooth operations.
Program and operate CNC machines, perform diagnostics, and resolve faults.
Maintain hydraulic fixtures, clamping repeatability, and accurate machining positions.
Change tools, monitor tool life, and investigate tool breakages.
Monitor part quality, adjust offsets, and optimize process capability.
Develop, maintain, and update process documentation and Standard Work Instructions (SWIs).
Set procedures and standards across the department.
Drive TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and 5S initiatives.
Train, mentor, and guide operators in safe and correct equipment operation.
Perform machining troubleshooting and preventative maintenance tasks.
Promote company HSE policies across the department and plant.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Process Engineering Manager or Process Engineers.
Essential Experience:
Time-served apprentice or formal college certification.
Proven CNC programming and machine setting experience in a JIT production environment.
High-speed 5-axis machining of aluminium castings.
Strong problem-solving abilities.
Programming knowledge of G&M codes, preferably Siemens 840D controllers.
Solid understanding of tooling and hydraulic fixture design principles.
Experience delivering training to staff.
Desirable Experience:
Experience within the castings sector.
ABB robot operation and programming.
Knowledge of straightening presses and associated processes.
Experience implementing 5S to improve production environment.

Work Environment:
This role is based in a manufacturing plant with exposure to heat, cold, dust, hot objects, and loud noises. Full Health and Safety training and PPE will be provided.
