Position Overview
Place Partnership are seeking to appoint an experienced Payroll Advisor to lead our end‑to‑end payroll service, ensuring every colleague across our Trust is paid accurately, on time and in full compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
The role falls within our central HR Shared Services function and involves managing the relationship with the external payroll provider and responding to complex payroll, pension and salary queries from across the Trust. The successful candidate will report to the HR Operations Manager and line manage the Payroll Assistant.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead end‑to‑end payroll service, ensuring accurate and timely payments.
* Manage relationship with external payroll provider and coordinate statutory payments, auto‑enrolment duties and HMRC requirements.
* Reconcile and validate payroll transactions, authorise payouts, conduct audits, and manage year‑end processes.
* Support the timely submission of the School Workforce Census (SWC) and the administration/reconciliation of TPS and LGPS schemes.
* Deliver an excellent customer experience, challenge data, resolve anomalies and streamline processes.
* Build capacity, resilience and high standards within the payroll function.
* Work closely with HR and Finance Shared Services teams.
Required Experience and Qualifications
* Experience in statutory payroll compliance and pension scheme processes (TPS and LGPS).
* Strong numerical, analytical and IT skills.
* Excellent relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex matters to stakeholders.
* Highly organised, detail‑focused and data‑driven.
* Professional, discreet and able to handle confidential information with integrity.
* Proactive, enthusiastic and committed to continuous improvement.
* Positive, collaborative and an effective team player with strong leadership skills.
Practical Information
Location: either Maltby or Wakefield Central Offices, depending on current location. Enhanced DBS check required.
