Responsibilities

* Provide 1st and 2nd line technical support for IT services to NHS staff across Acute Trust sites, Primary Care, ICB, GP practices and community clinics during 8:00 am–8:00 pm on agreed attendance.
* Participate in an out‑of‑hours on‑call rota providing 1st and 2nd line support remotely and on site, covering 24/7/365.
* Offer telephone, remote and desktop support for all IT equipment owned by the trust.
* Create and manage a weekly work schedule while responding to urgent requests via the IT Service Desk.
* Perform hardware and software housekeeping for applications and systems supported by the Informatics team.
* Log incident details accurately in the IT call‑logging tool and maintain data integrity across related systems (purchasing database, user management system, Enterprise Manager).
* Resolve a wide variety of IT problem incidents daily, including hardware and application software failures, ensuring a complete fix by replacement or troubleshooting.
* Maintain adherence to local and statutory regulations relating to data and computer facilities (Data Protection Act, Copyright laws, Computer Misuse Act).
* Lead project support for installations of key developments and new system technologies, undertaking system testing for compatibility.
* Install, repair and maintain IT equipment and software packages while minimising user disruption and following health and safety guidelines.
* Liaise with staff at all levels and external specialist support groups.
* Develop and distribute new and revised policies for Local Primary Care Trusts and General Practices.
* Act independently off‑site, refer major issues when necessary and visit numerous sites requiring a valid driving licence.
* Distribute new or updated equipment as needed, assessing departmental requirements.
* Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive patient and staff information.
* Provide basic on‑site training in all systems to staff.


Qualifications

* In‑depth knowledge of computer hardware and software technology used within NHS trusts and GP practices.
* Advanced keyboard and problem‑solving skills.
* Experience developing and managing in‑house systems and workflows.
* Strong analytical testing abilities for troubleshooting failures.
* Knowledge of Data Protection Act, Copyright laws, Computer Misuse Act and other relevant legislation.
* Health and safety guideline compliance.
* Valid driving licence.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
