PDM/PLM Specialist - Contract - Outside IR35
Overview
We are seeking an experienced PDM/PLM Specialist to support a critical 3-month engagement focused on defining requirements, processes, and supporting the procurement process for a new Product Data Management (PDM) solution as the first step towards a full PLM ecosystem. This role is pivotal in shaping the organisation's digital product data strategy and enabling a transition from spreadsheet-driven workflows to an integrated, automated solution. We require an experience PDM/PLM specialist to guide and drive the business to ensure the right tool is recommended with a well though out and detailed business case (with benefits)
Key Objectives
Requirements & Process Definition: Capture and document business needs, map current processes, and identify gaps to inform solution design.
RFP & Procurement Support: Collaborate with procurement to prepare and manage the Request for Proposal (RFP), evaluate vendor responses, and support selection.
Business Case Development: Assist in building a robust business case for senior stakeholders, including cost-benefit analysis and implementation roadmap.
Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to align requirements and expectations.
Governance & Best Practices: Recommend governance standards and process improvements to ensure long-term scalability.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience with PLM/PDM systems (eg SAP PLM, Siemans, Synergis etc)
Strong understanding of product development processes in FMCG (ideally) or manufacturing environments.
Experience in requirements gathering, business process mapping, and digital transformation.
Familiarity with RFP processes, vendor evaluation, and procurement collaboration.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and deliver outcomes within tight timelines.
