Opportunity: Health and Safety Manager at National Highways
National Highways has an excellent opportunity for a Health and Safety Manager to join our team in Safety, Engineering and Standards (SES). We are committed to ensuring that everyone working on our road network and within our organization gets Home Safe and Well.
Location: Based in the Midlands (West and East Midlands), supporting a national health, safety, and wellbeing team. The role involves supporting diverse organizational topics across colleagues and supply chain, including offices, traffic management, and on-road colleagues, on large complex infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities include:
1. Supporting the implementation of our health and safety strategy (Home Safe and Well) and our continuous improvement goals.
2. Providing expert advice and guidance on health, safety, and wellbeing topics to a diverse range of colleagues and supply chain partners.
3. Engaging with and supporting our supply chain partners to ensure compliance with our duties and responsibilities as a client organization.
4. Undertaking health and safety assurance activities, including audits and reviews during pre-construction and construction phases.
5. Leading incident and near-miss investigations to promote organizational and industry-wide learning.
About you:
* NEBOSH Diploma in Health and Safety (or equivalent) and membership of a recognized professional body (e.g., CMIOSH).
* Experience in health and safety management within employer organizations and delivering client responsibilities in construction projects.
* Ability to analyze complex information and present it clearly and accurately.
* Experience in conducting and reporting on audits and assurance activities.
Additional information:
* Travel is required; a valid driving license with no more than 3 points is necessary.
* Supports flexible working policies; role based at the nearest office within the South West region.
