Learning Support Assistant (SEMH)

Are you a caring, patient, and resilient individual with a passion for supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We are partnering with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Reading to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant. This role involves supporting pupils across the primary age range, helping them succeed both emotionally and academically.

This is a truly rewarding opportunity where you can make a lasting difference-building strong relationships, providing consistent support, and helping children develop confidence, resilience, and a positive attitude towards learning.

About the School

This vibrant and diverse primary school is recognised for its inclusive ethos and strong sense of community. It provides a supportive environment where every child is valued and encouraged to thrive.

Recent feedback highlights:

* Strong leadership and a clear commitment to improving outcomes for all pupils

* Positive behaviour and respectful attitudes from pupils

* A dedicated and supportive staff team focused on pupil success

* A curriculum designed to build confidence, independence, and resilience

The school places a strong emphasis on pastoral care and emotional wellbeing, ensuring pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant (SEMH), you will:

* Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs

* Help pupils manage emotions and develop positive behaviour strategies

* Support classroom learning and keep pupils engaged

* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams

* Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils

What We're Looking For

* Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs

* A calm, patient, and resilient approach

* Strong communication and relationship-building skills

* A genuine passion for supporting children to overcome barriers to learning

Experience in roles such as Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor, Care Worker, or Support Worker would be highly advantageous.

If you're looking for a meaningful role where you can truly impact young lives, we'd love to hear from you.
