High-impact role within a Global manufacturing group
Procurement Heads are partnering with a leading international chemicals manufacturer that produces high-performance ingredients used in everyday products — from flame retardants and cosmetic actives to the key components in disinfectants and surface sprays.
Operating from a major COMAH-regulated manufacturing site in Cheshire, the UK business serves both domestic and global customers, including several of the world’s most recognised paint, coatings and FMCG brands. With 19 entities worldwide and a workforce of around 1,700 people, this is a business that’s grown organically and continues to invest in technology, sustainability, and global collaboration.
The Role of the Procurement Manager
Reporting to the UK Managing Director, you’ll take full responsibility for procurement at the Cheshire site — a synthesis and manufacturing facility that also supports the wider group.
With annual raw materials spend of around £15m, plus significant capex projects (c. £6m) and indirect categories such as PPE and MRO, you’ll consolidate spend across the UK setting and oversee strategic and tactical procurement to ensure cost efficiency, supply reliability, and compliance in a regulated, high-hazard environment.
You’ll also play a key role in the transition to a new global ERP system (SAP HANA), helping to modernise processes and drive consistency across 19 operating companies.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage procurement of raw materials, packaging, indirect goods, utilities, services, and capital equipment for the UK site.
* Partner with Group Procurement and local leadership to deliver cost reduction and supply-chain resilience.
* Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships, including those within the chemical and raw materials markets.
* Collaborate closely with Operations, Sales, and Finance to align procurement strategy with business goals.
* Lead supplier audits and ensure full COMAH and HSE compliance.
* Contribute to the rollout of new digital procurement tools and ERP systems.
* Drive a solutions-focused culture, championing teamwork and problem-solving over blame.
About You
* Minimum 5 years’ procurement experience ideally within chemical manufacturing, at a COMAH or high-hazard site.
* Strong understanding of raw material supply chains, including global sourcing.
* Experience managing capex, MRO, and PPE spend.
* Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence senior colleagues.
* Confident operating in a flat, entrepreneurial structure within a globally connected organisation.
* ERP experience (SAP preferred) and familiarity with strategic sourcing and category management.
