Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Bank Games Design, Development and Concept Art Lecturer to join our team within The Digital Academy at the City of Liverpool College. As part of the Digital Academy, you will be an inspiration to students and will contribute to achieving excellence in teaching and learning using innovative and emerging technologies. You will bring an up‑to‑date skillset in 3D Modelling, Animation, and Game Engine experience, delivering a cutting‑edge curriculum that prepares learners for an ever‑growing digital world. Motivated individuals with excellent interpersonal skills who can engage, motivate and inspire our students are encouraged to apply.

We offer a range of courses within the Digital Academy, including L1 Digital and computing technologies, L2 Game Art, L2 and L3 Games Development, BA Hons Games Design and Concept Art and T‑Levels in digital production and Digital Support services.


Key Responsibilities

* Contribute to the College and curriculum area strategic objectives and actively engage in the annual review
* Stay aware of national developments in the subject area and update knowledge and skills annually
* Plan, prepare and deliver high‑quality lessons to achieve effective learning management
* Use a range of effective teaching and learning techniques to engage, motivate, and encourage student independence and autonomy
* Establish a purposeful and motivating learning environment where students feel safe, secure, confident and valued
* Maintain procedures that promote appropriate behaviour, communication and respect, while challenging discriminatory attitudes
* Set and mark work following College and School Assessment policies, recording all work and assessment outcomes
* Track students’ progress and attendance in line with agreed College systems and policies
* Provide a balanced mix of teaching styles and learning experiences
* Be aware of external/internal assessment procedures and play an appropriate part in their implementation
* Evaluate and improve personal communication skills to maximise effective communication and overcome barriers
* Liaise with Head of School to design programmes and teaching approaches that enable curriculum areas to achieve high standards and added value
* Support the administration necessary to sustain teaching, learning and assessment within the subject area
* Work with colleagues to identify and address additional student English and Maths skill development in the subject area
* Review professional development needs and participate fully in future training and development
* Implement innovation in teaching, learning and assessment


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise


Essential Criteria

* Educated to Level 4 (e.g., Degree or equivalent) in Games Design and Concept Art or another Digital subject specialism
* Ability to inspire and motivate learners
* Knowledge and understanding of Computing and Digital industries
* Engaged in Continuing Professional Development
* Minimum Level 2 literacy and numeracy, or willingness to complete; or relevant already
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to set high standards for students, colleagues and oneself
* Strong problem‑solving abilities
* Ability to collaborate with industry employers and colleagues


Desirable Criteria

* Recognised teaching qualification or vocational experience
* Ability to embed innovation in the curriculum using emerging technologies
* Proven experience of curriculum planning, development and delivery in Games Design and Concept Art, including assessing student needs and planning curriculum for their benefit with innovative learning approaches
* Good understanding of quality assurance and improvement processes
* Knowledge or experience of T‑Level provision
* Knowledge or experience in teaching Higher Education
