Senior Occupational Therapist

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist for Basingstoke Community Therapy, a friendly and supportive team of Therapists and Therapy assistants providing domiciliary rehabilitation to patients in North Hampshire. You will develop your expertise treating a range of problems related to elderly care, falls, palliative care, orthopaedic, neurological and respiratory conditions. You will also have opportunity to develop your leadership and management skills within the team.
This post would suit an established B6 therapist or an experienced B5 with an interest in community working. Successful applicants will need to be efficient workers, good communicators and be confident working as an autonomous practitioner. Community experience is desirable. You will be responsible for managing your own caseload whilst working effectively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure an integrated approach to patient care.

It is essential that you possess a current driving license and have access to a car for work use. There is limited free onsite parking and expenses are paid for work related travel and parking. This is a fixed term contract for 2 years.

Main duties of the job
As the successful applicant you will need to be an efficient worker, a good communicator and be confident working as an autonomous practitioner. You will be working in the community both independently and with colleagues. You will be responsible for managing your own caseload whilst working effectively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure an integrated approach to patient care. You will aim to prevent unnecessary admission to hospital or long‑term care, you will be promoting functional independence and working with individuals and colleagues towards varied goals.
You will be adept at completing holistic initial assessments, identifying and agreeing goals, delivering therapy intervention that may vary between posture management, upper limb rehab or achieving independence with activities of daily living. You will be able to complete onward referrals, liaise with family, carers and colleagues effectively and maintain accurate contemporaneous records.
As part of your role you will supervise students, engage in inservice training and have a key link role in the team.
