As part of our Pharmacy Team, you will support home‑care services across the Health Board, primarily based at Princess of Wales Hospital, processing prescriptions and invoices, liaising with home‑care providers and clinicians, and ensuring patients receive vital medication directly to their homes. The Home‑Care Administrative Officer plays a key role in supporting the delivery of Pharmacy Home‑Care Services across the Health Board, ensuring medicines are received safely, efficiently and on time. Working as part of the Pharmacy team, the post holder will provide comprehensive administrative support to a growing number of clinical specialities using home‑care services.
Key Responsibilities
- Process home‑care prescriptions and create/manage patient‑specific orders.
- Receipting goods and checking/reconciling invoices.
- Maintain accurate electronic and paper records.
- Liaise regularly with home‑care providers, clinicians, pharmacy staff, patients and carers to resolve queries, monitor outstanding orders and support continuity of medicine supply.
- Ensure financial accuracy, comply with standing financial instructions, standard operating procedures and information governance requirements.
Qualifications and Skills
- Manage a varied workload, prioritise tasks effectively and use initiative to handle routine issues independently, escalating more complex matters as appropriate.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is welcome but not essential; reliability, motivation and commitment to patient care are essential.
- Proficiency with IT and computer systems relevant to pharmacy administration.
