About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trade Planning Senior Analyst to join Tesco on a 9-12 month parental leave cover contract.
This role supports strategic initiatives, helping to shape price and promotion strategies through insight and analysis using advanced analytical and modeling techniques.
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience handling large data volumes with modern data processing tools, especially SQL (Teradata and Hadoop).

You will be responsible for
* Supporting delivery of strategic projects across product and channel teams, including price index development, promotional optimization, and trade plan delivery
* Designing and performing analyses for projects like indexing, investment modeling, promotional optimization, price architecture, range optimization, space allocation, regression analysis, and trade forecast
* Identifying and resolving complex data issues to ensure accurate analysis
* Supporting end-to-end processes from planning to performance review
* Converting analysis into Tableau dashboards
* Proactively automating and simplifying processes
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align and execute commercial strategies
* Performing ad hoc research and analysis to diagnose performance issues
You will need
Operational Skills:
* Extensive experience with large data volumes and data processing tools, especially SQL (Teradata and Hadoop)
* Strong Excel skills
* Data visualization skills, especially with Tableau
* Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement
* Experience with Python, VBA, and other visualization tools
Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering
* Practical experience using data to connect directly with customer impact
