Job Summary
Lead GP Urgent Treatment Centre 10 PAs at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust located at Poplar Grove. The UTC operates 7 days a week, 0900 to 2200, co‑located with the Stepping Hill Emergency Department. The role involves providing autonomous clinical care to patients arriving via walk‑in or NHS 111 referrals, and leading a multidisciplinary team of GPs, ACPs and senior nurses.
Responsibilities
* Act as an autonomous clinician to assess, diagnose and manage patients, including prescribing and administering treatment within agreed protocols.
* Evaluate clinical information and initiate appropriate treatment, referral or discharge.
* Refer patients to appropriate care settings when necessary.
* Work within the performance framework and quality standards for the UTC, including key performance indicators and the QC requirements.
* Empower service users, encourage self‑care and help them access services appropriately.
* Provide clinical support and supervision to other health professionals, notably ACPs.
* Participate in clinical audit and service evaluation.
* Assist in maintaining clinical standards and efficient running of the service.
* Stay aware of local, regional and national policies affecting health and social care delivery.
Person Specification
Essential
* Recognised Medical Degree, MRCGP, full GMC registration and licence to practice.
* Certificate of completion of relevant training.
* Ability to lead a team.
* Previous experience in a primary care setting (OOH, walk‑in centre, UTC).
* Broad experience in managing urgent care settings.
* Good organisational, teaching, verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable
* Relevant higher degree or management qualification.
* Experience leading a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Primary and secondary care interface experience.
* Membership of appropriate professional societies.
Teaching and Training
Essential
* Commitment to and experience of learning and teaching undergraduates, ACPs and postgraduates.
Desirable
* Commitment to the training of staff from a range of health and care disciplines.
* Completion of formal training in teaching and assessment of junior medical staff.
Research / Audits / Publications
Essential
* Ability to supervise audit projects and understanding of audit / research principles.
Desirable
* Experience of involvement in a research project and publication or published audit report.
* Certificate of Good Clinical Practice in research.

Salary and Working Pattern
£78,699 to £118,759 per annum, pro‑rata, permanent contract. Full‑time or part‑time.
