Communications Officer (Social Media) Location: Northamptonshire - Hybrid Salary: Flexible Contract: Full-time, 3 months contract North Northamptonshire Council is looking for a Communications Officer with strong social media skills to join the Communications and Policy team. This role supports the delivery of clear, engaging communications for residents, staff and wider stakeholders, with a particular focus on social media activity. Key responsibilities Create and publish content across the Council's social media channels, including stories, updates and community news. Produce short, engaging social-first videos such as reels. Write clear, accessible copy that meets brand, accessibility and Plain English standards. Monitor social media performance and produce straightforward reports. Support wider communications and marketing work, including campaigns, photoshoots and client liaison. Assist with general administration and processes to help keep the communications function running smoothly. About you Experience delivering communications or social media for a large organisation. Strong writing skills and the ability to simplify complex information. Confident creating video or photography content. Good understanding of social media platforms, audiences and emerging trends. Organised, proactive and comfortable working with multiple teams. Degree or equivalent experience required. Driving licence and access to a vehicle. Additional information This is a politically restricted role under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989. The role may occasionally require some evening or weekend work.
