Job Overview
As a certified nurse or paramedic, you can pursue a career within the criminal justice system, aiding some of society's most vulnerable individuals. This role involves delivering high-quality healthcare to detainees, working in custody suites under the direction of the police and ensuring the safety of all individuals in the system.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive medical care to detainees in custody suites.
* Work within a fixed shift rota of 4 days on and 4 days off, covering 06:45-19:00 day shifts and 18:45-07:00 night shifts, with a rolling 2-year rota available.
* Travel across the assigned region of custody suites and force areas as required.
* Collaborate closely with police and other support staff to coordinate patient care and emergency response.
* Maintain accurate clinical records and comply with all relevant health & safety and legal standards.
* Respond to medical emergencies and provide first-line treatment in both day and night shifts.
Qualifications & Experience
* Registered nurse (RN, RGN) or registered midwife (RMN) with dual registration, or paramedic, with at least 2 years of post-qualification experience in a patient-facing clinical setting.
* Relevant experience in Accident & Emergency (A&E), General Practice, Emergency Medicine, Acute Medicine, Prison Healthcare, or the Ambulance Service.
* UK driving licence (or equivalent) and a valid RTW endorsement; British passport or ILR for 3 years with no gaps outside the UK exceeding 3 months.
* Full police vetting clearance.
* Ability to work in high-pressure environments and flexible shift patterns.
Salary & Benefits
* Annual salary: £41,000
* £1,000 bonus after completing 12 months of service.
* Full-time fixed-shift contract with average overtime earnings of approximately £3,500 per year.
* NMC/HCPC registration costs covered.
* Rolling rota available 2 years in advance.
