Specialist Podiatrist

An exciting opportunity has arisen or an experienced podiatrist to join our team.
The role will involve work in both health centresand out in the community in patients homes, care homes and local hospitals. PodiatrySevern covers the Worcester City and Malvern area of Worcestershire. Emphasisis on the high-risk foot and a special interest in wound care and MSK would bebeneficial.
The ideal candidate will be a team player, committed toproviding high quality patient care with the ability to work both independentlyand as part of a team. Enthusiastic, highly motivated and a strong work ethicis most desirable.
You will be confident in the assessment, diagnosis andtreatment of the lower limb, with a sound knowledge of disease processesrelating to the foot and lower limb of all types of patient groups. The abilityto network, liaise and build relationships with other health care professionalswould be highly advantageous.
Knowledge of MSK and competence with nail surgery is also arequirement for the role.
You will have the opportunity to takepart in nail surgery on a rota basis and there are opportunities for shadowingand working with the Multi -Disciplinary Foot Team and the MSK specialist teamto further advance skills and knowledge base.
Main duties of the job
The successfulapplicant will assess diagnose and treat high risk patients both in clinic anddomiciliary settings. Liaise with GPs and other health care professionals.
Triage referralsappropriately. Provide education to patients and empower them to manage theirown condition. Mentor students and apprentices as required. Perform nailsurgery and be part of the rota within the department. Provide offloading andorthotic devices where appropriate.

Person Specification
Knowledge
* Sound knowledge of:
* Management of the high-risk foot
* Knowledge and understanding of Clinical Governance
Experience
* Evidence of relevant Post Graduate experience and training within specialist areas in Podiatry such as management of the high risk foot, the Diabetic Foot at risk and Biomechanical/ Musculoskeletal Assessment Diagnosis and Management
Skills & Abilities
* Ability to challenge poor behaviour.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications
* A degree or equivalent qualification in Podiatric Medicine
* Registration with the Health Professions Council
* A certificate in administration of local anaesthetics
* Evidence of relevant Post Graduate Education, Validated Courses, Training and continuous professional development
* I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
