As an Industrial Placement Software Engineer, you will work on various technologies across the full software stack to maintain, modernize, and expand our product portfolio.
The role is based at our Southampton office but may involve a mix of home and onsite work, with flexible options for team members.
What you’ll do as a Software Engineer:
* Work in a Scrum team with skilled professionals on product development supporting multiple customers.
* Collaborate with experienced engineers to solve real-world problems.
* Receive ongoing support and training to develop your software skills and gain practical experience.
* Engage in activities across the full software lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, and integration.
* Design and implement high-quality, robust code, supporting build, configuration, and deployment processes.
* Work across the full software stack, including platform, backend, frontend, and mobile development.
* Opportunities for career progression in managerial or technical paths.
What we need from you:
* Currently studying a relevant degree such as Computer Science, Computing, or Software Engineering (BSc (Hons), BEng (Hons), MEng), with an expected gap in studies for a placement. Applications are also welcomed from graduates seeking industrial experience before pursuing higher degrees.
* Enthusiasm for coding and a keen interest in software development.
It would be nice if you had:
* Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Bash/Shell scripting, and frontend frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular.
* Understanding of client-server architecture.
* Experience with JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket, and databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, CouchDB.
* Experience using Git.
