SEN Teacher – Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH)
Location: Sunderland
Start: Immediate
Contract: Long-term, with potential to go permanent
Pay: £145 to £200 per day (PAYE)
Some pupils need more than a curriculum, they need consistency, warmth, and someone who doesn’t give up on them. If that sounds like you, this role could be a perfect fit. You’ll join a small, supportive team in Sunderland working with learners who need help regulating emotions and building confidence.
Your day-to-day:
1. Teaching a small group of KS4 learners with SEMH needs
2. Using therapeutic approaches to help pupils feel safe and ready to learn
3. Building trust with young people who may struggle with change
4. Working with pastoral leads to create solid routines
5. Turning tricky mornings into calm, productive sessions
What we’re looking for:
6. QTS or QTLS
7. Experience in SEMH, PRU, or alternative provision is ideal
8. Someone resilient, warm, and steady
9. Strong behaviour management built on relationships, not strictness

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
