This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior finance leader to play a pivotal role shaping the financial future of one of the UK’s leading independent schools.
The Role
As Finance Director at Shrewsbury School, you will be responsible for delivering long-term financial plans and strategies to ensure the school’s financial sustainability. This will include leading on financial operations, overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, compliance (including tax and statutory duties), internal controls, and risk management across the school.
You will also manage investments and major projects and ensure the effective management of multiple payrolls and pension schemes, and accurate staffing cost forecasting.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will need to be a commercially minded, qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with the proven ability to combine financial rigour with strategic, business-focused decision-making.
As an experienced leader, you will be someone who has successfully led a finance function or operated at Director level within a complex organisation, who is skilled at building relationships across teams, developing their staff, and influencing internal and external stakeholders with confidence and credibility.
The ability to design financial strategies, model different scenarios, and provide clear, evidence-based advice to Governors and senior leaders is equally important.
