Principal Planning Consultant

MJCA is seeking a Principal Planning Consultant to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise on a diverse range of projects across the minerals, waste and environmental sectors. Key responsibilities

* Provide technical support to the Technical Director of Planning.
* Lead and contribute to a range of planning and environmental projects.
* Effectively manage all stages of project delivery including management of internal and external technical specialists.
* Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Provide clear, practical advice to clients and colleagues on UK planning policy and environmental legislation.
* Manage and coordinate Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and the preparation of Environmental Statements.
* Oversee the delivery of planning and Development Consent Order (DCO) applications.
* Liaise effectively with clients, regulators and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
* Support the development of new business opportunities and help strengthen client relationships.

Skills and experience

* Previous experience in minerals and waste planning.
* Excellent knowledge of relevant Planning legislation.
* Experience in renewable energy projects would be an advantage.
* Excellent report writing and communication skills.
* Computer literacy and adaptability to new technologies.
* Confident in managing projects, budgets and people, with a focus on delivering results.

Qualifications

* Degree BSc in planning or a related subject.
* Membership of a professional body such as the RTPI, CIWM or ISEP.
* Full UK driving licence.

Hydrogeologist and Geologist Consultants

MJCA is seeking talented Hydrogeologist and Geologist Consultants to join our Hydrogeology and Geology team. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise on a diverse range of projects across the minerals, waste and environmental sectors. We are looking for analytical, detail oriented individuals with a proactive mindset and a positive, adaptable attitude.

Key responsibilities

* Deliver technical support across a wide range of hydrogeological and geological services.
* Contribute to all stages of project delivery.
* Prepare desk based studies, technical reports and quantitative risk assessments.
* Develop hydrogeological models and remediation strategies.
* Supervise site investigations and provide technical oversight of contractors and field teams.
* Liaise effectively with clients, regulators and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.

Skills and experience

* Strong technical knowledge of hydrogeology, geology and environmental assessment.
* Proven experience in groundwater assessment projects.
* Excellent report writing and communication skills.
* A good knowledge of relevant environmental legislation.
* Proficiency in hydrogeological modelling software.
* Ability to supervise office and field based activities.
* Computer literacy and adaptability to new technologies.

Qualifications

* Degree (preferably MSc) in Geology or Hydrogeology related subject.
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., Fellow of the Geological Society).
* Full UK driving licence.

Principal and Senior Environmental Permitting Consultants

MJCA are currently looking to appoint both a Principal and a Senior Environmental Permitting Consultant to join our team of experienced environmental consultants specialising in Environmental Permitting within the waste management industry. This role offers the opportunity to provide technical expertise, oversee projects, and apply comprehensive knowledge of environmental regulations across a variety of waste treatment and industrial activities.

Experience

* Proven experience in Environmental Permitting and associated regulatory frameworks so that you can provide direct input to projects alongside managing and supporting other team members in the department.
* Experience in a range of waste management and industrial activities ideally including landfill, waste treatment, hazardous waste management and waste recovery operations.
* Experience in reviewing and interpreting environmental monitoring data and preparing related reports and risk assessments.
* Experience in liaising with waste and minerals operators, the Environment Agency, and local authorities.

Skills

* Strong understanding of Environmental Permitting regulations and previous regimes including Pollution Prevention and Control and Waste Management Licensing.
* Technical advisory skills in the application of environmental legislation.
* Excellent communication and organisational abilities.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide technical support for a wide range of Environmental Permitting services.
* Oversee projects and guide team members with up to date regulatory knowledge.
* Prepare permit applications, environmental risk assessments, management plans and detailed reports.

Qualifications

* Degree BSc or MSc in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., Chartered Environment Agency).
* Full UK driving licence.
