About the role
We are seeking a full‑time Safeguarding Officer to join our team at York College. You will play an active role in the Safeguarding and Wellbeing Team, and across college, working collaboratively and professionally with students, staff, external agencies and students’ family members. You will swiftly respond to and manage safeguarding cases as they arise, attend multi‑agency meetings, Child in Need meetings, strategy discussions and liaise with families, external agencies and key safeguarding partners.
Responsibilities
The safeguarding of young people and adults at risk is fully embraced by all York College staff and underpins the college values of ambition, care, respect and success. Our safeguarding officers take swift and appropriate actions to mitigate safeguarding risks.
Post is full‑time for 36 weeks per year in college term time, plus one week at the end of August to support student enrolment.
About the person
The role requires you to maintain and develop links with external agencies, while providing the safest possible environment for all our students. It is important you can work as part of a team, while managing your own workload and prioritising actions. You will work with staff across the college to provide effective training and awareness sessions. Previous experience of safeguarding is needed for this role. You must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with students, colleagues, professionals and others supporting our students.
